VO2 max testing is the gold standard for measuring cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. By analysing the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilise during intense exercise, this assessment provides valuable insights into your fitness, training potential, and endurance performance.
What Is VO2 Max Testing?
The VO2 max test measures the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilise during intense or maximal exercise. It is widely recognised as a key performance indicator for endurance sports, with a higher VO2 max generally correlating with improved aerobic performance.
During your assessment, you will:
- Learn your personalised heart rate, power, and pace training zones rather than relying on generic formulas like 220 minus age.
- Maximise your training effectiveness with targeted training zones, allowing you to get more from every session.
- Identify your physiological strengths and weaknesses, along with practical strategies to improve your performance.
What's Involved?
This is an incremental exercise test that begins at a low intensity before gradually increasing through a series of stages until you reach exhaustion. The test protocol is discussed with you before starting and is guided by your primary tester.
Throughout the assessment, your oxygen consumption, heart rate, power output, ventilation, and energy expenditure are continuously monitored and analysed in real time.
VO2 max testing is available using either a treadmill or a stationary bike, depending on your preferred activity.
What You Receive
- A detailed report emailed within three days, including your complete results, graphs, and personalised heart rate and power or pace training zones.
- An easy-to-understand explanation of your results and practical guidance on how to use your training zones.
- A clear snapshot of your current aerobic fitness, highlighting your strengths and opportunities for improvement.
