Telehealth rehabilitation can be an effective option if you need help getting back to your physical best but are unable to attend appointments in person at POGO Physio in Robina on the Gold Coast.
Our physiotherapists routinely conduct telehealth consultations for patients who live:
- Within Queensland – if you are unable to attend POGO Physio in person or do not require an in-person appointment. This may include people who are time poor or live too far away for a convenient commute.
- Interstate within Australia – including New South Wales, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, and Western Australia.
- Overseas – we have successfully provided telehealth consultations to patients around the world, including New Zealand, the United States, Switzerland, South Africa, Indonesia, England, Canada, Bulgaria, and many more.
How Does Telehealth Work?
Telehealth consultations can be performed using the following platforms:
- FaceTime
- Facebook Messenger
- Zoom
- Phone
Is There Anything That Cannot Be Performed via Telehealth?
There are several elements of an in-person consultation that cannot be carried out during a telehealth appointment. However, in most instances this does not prevent an effective consultation from being delivered.
Manual therapy (hands-on treatment) cannot be performed remotely. If manual therapy is likely to benefit your recovery, it can be arranged with a healthcare provider in your local area, with guidance from our team if required.
Exercises are demonstrated and prescribed using our exercise prescription software, TrackActive. The platform includes instructional videos, images and detailed guidance to help you perform each exercise correctly at home or in the gym.
What Conditions Can Be Treated with Telehealth?
There are very few conditions or body regions that cannot be effectively managed through telehealth physiotherapy. Successful rehabilitation has been provided for a wide range of conditions, including:
- Lower back pain
- Running injuries
- Patellofemoral pain
- Tendon pathology (tendinopathies and tendon tears)
- Hip and knee osteoarthritis
- Shoulder injuries and pathology
- And many more
Can I Claim Private Health Rebates?
Some private health insurers offer rebates for telehealth consultations. Our administration team can assist you with the information and documentation you need to make a claim.
Can I Access Telehealth Services If I Am Not Paying Privately?
Yes. Telehealth consultations are available for patients funded through a range of schemes, including:
- WorkCover Queensland insured workers
- Medicare Australia GP-referred patients with a Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly an Enhanced Primary Care Plan) – bulk billed
- Department of Veterans' Affairs patients
